Before the day – interior
- Wash walls and ceilings, and repaint where necessary
- Clean doors and window frames
- Make sure every light works
- Clean installed electrical appliances
- Clear surfaces of clutter
- Remove mould and mildew from the bathroom
- Replace the shower curtain if necessary
Before the day – exterior
- Clean or paint the gate and letterbox
- Trim creepers and overhanging branches
- Apply lawn fertiliser early enough to green the lawn
- Mow lawns and trim hedges
- Vacuum the pool and remove leaves
- Clean paving, tiles or decking around the pool
On the day – interior
- Put out clean towels and bathroom mats
- Play soft background music
- Brew fresh coffee
- Add vases of fresh flowers
- Use air conditioning on hot days or heating on cool days
- Make beds and wash dishes
On the day – exterior
- Clear paths of leaves and grass
- Rake garden debris
- Roll up hoses and store garden tools and toys
- Remove pool equipment from view
